Animals By Land

What to do? The contest theme is Animals By Land, wild animals that is. I have quite a few wild animals tucked away in amongst all my 1100+ designs. The challenge was to think of a new one. I wanted to create Squirrels. Thought of trying a cartoon style design... BUT when I started drawing.. this grew out of the screen.

Animals By Air

I've been looking forward to this contest because I knew what I wanted to do even before it was posted, so for once I was ready with an idea. A while ago I did a design with Bees, and I've done several with butterflies.. but I am keen to work on designs about animals in danger of becoming extinct and along with Bees, Bats are another endangered species. So this is what I have created. These are fruit bats, they LOVE MANGOS! LOL
It's called BATS ABOUT YOU!

Elegant Holiday

The Theme "Using at least two of the colors from the palette provided (#2B061E, #5A001C, #AAB5A8) & optional accents of black & white, create a repeating design inspired by a sophisticated winter dinner party." 

And as usual.. it takes time to come up with something.. LOL...And the first one felt lacking..

Though my one Brother would like it because there is space around design.. I felt it didn't have OOOmmpphh!
So I tried again.. putting shadows behind the holly.. hmm stopped half way, didn't really like it and it was taking too long... Then I tried embossed holly leaves in the background.. and decided it was just too busy.. then I tried this....

Marrakesh Rainbow Tiles

The archways are everywhere, and are a big part of Marrakesh, so, I took the arch and made flowers.......

Cycling!

Some swear by it as the ultimate exercise, some think other sports are better... BUT this week, on Spoonflower, they have decided that as "spring" is here, yeah I know, spring? , that folks will be enjoying the great outdoors on their bikes... hmmmmmmm I wonder.

Anyway, I didn't want to do a design with bikes and people riding down roads or pathways... I mulled it over and over and over..... and eventually came up with this...

Endangered Species!

It's never too late, well, sometimes it can be, so you have to act NOW! Don't think that "someone else" is going to give, or create, or do, or help, or fix... because they probably think that "someone else" will!

If everyone does something.. no matter how small.. they all add up to something HUGE!

Geology

Well that's a wide theme, Geology! What to do, what to do.. I had in mind... fossils. I have a small sample of a fossil at home.... and it got me thinking....
A friend and I were wandering through a shop and it was loaded with crystals and all sorts of carved quartz balls.. a real treasure trove.

Modern Farmhouse

Spoonflower comes up with the most unusual design challenges. The latest for voting on is Modern Farmhouse. In the brief we're told to use either creams and naturals or bright contemporary colours. I've gone neutral this week.
The way I see it is that every farmhouse, regardless of how modern it is, always has a woodpile :>D
